Welcome from our Founding President
Hello...
...and welcome to the website of Ghostlight Performers, a performing arts group founded in 2020 in Southport in the North West of England.
If you are visiting this website, I’m guessing that you are interested in theatre in all its forms. However you may not be aware that a 'Ghost Light' is a light that remains lit on a stage when the rest of the theatre is dark, or unoccupied. We thought this was an appropriate name for a new theatre group founded during lockdown!
You may be forgiven for thinking we are mad to form a new theatre group in the present difficult circumstances, but we believe passionately that live theatre must not be allowed to die, and have lots of plans and ideas in the pipeline for when we can get back on stage. Let’s hope it won’t be long!
Our secretary, Paul-James Green is the driving force behind our society and he has written the first play we intend to perform next year. Our remit is to stage a play, a musical and a concert each year. We have an enthusiastic young team behind the society, with great ideas and a desire to bring something new to the amateur arts scene in our local area.
So watch this space...
If you are interested in joining us, please contact our membership secretary, Mrs. Alice McKillop (via the contact page) You don’t need any experience, it doesn’t matter what age you are, or whether you are interested in performing or working backstage, just bring along your ideas and enthusiasm. If you’re already member of a theatre group, but feel like a fresh challenge, then this is the place for you.
Until we can meet up in person, we are active on social media!
We look forward to welcoming you, either as a member of the team, or as a member of the audience.
The show WILL go on!
